With Bitcoin, blockchain technology has now been available for over ten years. At the latest since the go-live of Ethereum seven years ago, representatives of almost all industries have promised to change or even revolutionize business processes on the basis of blockchain. From today's perspective, little of this has remained and yet new consortia, start-ups and technological advancements continue to emerge.

In his presentation, Michael Merz will first shed light on the topic of "Blockchain" from a technical perspective and compare topics such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hyperledger, Tendermint as well as other implementations.

In the second part, the focus is then on projects that have been implemented in recent years with more or less success. Here, the bandwidth ranges from technology to organizational governance issues.
Michael Merz will share his personal experiences on these different levels.

Michael Merz kann auf über 35 Jahre IT-Erfahrung zurückblicken. Er hat Informatik und Wirtschaftswissenschaften studiert und an der Universität Hamburg am Fachbereich Informatik promoviert. Er ist Gründer und seit 20 Jahren Geschäftsführer der PONTON GmbH und hat sich über die letzten 15 Jahre mit europaweiten Beratungs- und Entwicklungsprojekten im Bereich der Energiewirtschaft beschäftigt. Michael Merz ist zudem seit Jahren Experte im Bereich „Blockchain“ und Autor des Buches "Blockchain im B2B-Einsatz". Schließlich ist er Initiator des internationalen Projekts Enerchain, bei dem der Energiehandel dezentral über die Blockchain erfolgt, und war darüber hinaus in Projekte wie Gridchain, NEW 4.0 und ETIBLOGG involviert.
